The successful person will drive the performance analysis provision across our academy structure. This is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to influence the development journey of young players and embed a culture of analysis-led learning at every age group.

The Role
To contribute to the development of footballers within the Academy programme, helping the academy achieve its vision of becoming ‘a leading Category 2 Academy developing a minimum of 3 academy graduates per season’.

To contribute towards player development through the use of performance analysis support.

 Duties
  • Lead the organisation and delivery of the performance analysis programme across the Foundation Phase and Youth Development Phase (U9 – U16)
  • Lead the analysis provision in the Professional Development Phase (U18 - U21)
  • Lead and manage all Academy Analyst interns and work experience students to ensure the Foundation Phase and Youth Development Phase Analysis Programme reflects the high standards set within the department
  • Hold Weekly analysis staff meetings to discuss programme and deliver CPD
  • Capture and analyse video footage to provide performance feedback
  • Review footage to create opposition profiles and video meetings (U18 – U21)
  • Deliver pre-match, live, and post-match analysis to support player and coach feedback.
  • Analyse technical and tactical data to provide meaningful performance insights
  • Collaborate with coaches to create Data and Video presentations for player and team performance reviews
  • Conduct opposition analysis for the PDP when required to support with Match Preparation
  • Share analysis materials and tools with players, parents and staff across platforms
  • Support the Academy’s Individual Development Programme (IDP) through personalised video feedback
  • Support Academy Operations Manager with Matchday Events
  • Maintain the Academy’s best practice video library
  • Develop and deliver age-appropriate analysis sessions with support of Academy Interns
  • Support alignment between PDP and First Team by working closely with the Lead First-Team Analyst
  • Support the Academy analysis department with any ad-hoc tasks as and when required 
  • Continue to upskill in the analysis field through training, research, CPD, external events and collaborating with other practitioners

Other responsibilities

  • Be available to travel to other sites away from the club
  • Be aware of the PUFC policies, procedures & best practise so that concerns of non-compliance can be raised at all times e.g. Safeguarding, Inclusion, Diversity
  • Always ensure GDPR compliance
  • To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
  • Support, guide and encourage other staff in personal and professional development
  • Self-assess and work on own personal and professional development
  • Help new colleagues through induction process and complete all areas to the highest standard

About You

Experience and Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a sport-related field
  • FA / UEFA Coaching qualifications (Desirable)
  • Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF)
  • Up-to-date safeguarding certification
  • Experience working within professional football at Academy or First Team level
